You have a big birthday coming up, and you’re determined to celebrate in style. No matter which milestone you’re hitting, Napa Valley has the goods to make it your best birthday ever. We’ve taken the guesswork out of planning the perfect birthday celebration, so round up your travel squad and get ready for a birthday blowout of epic proportions.
Twenty-one is a big year, but your budget probably isn’t. Not to say you don’t deserve to splurge on your 21st birthday, but we’ve created a Napa Valley itinerary that won’t break the bank, without compromising on fun. Gather your friends and share a room (or two) at Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa. Just outside downtown Napa, it’s a convenient Uber or Lyft ride away from all the hotspots you’ll want to visit, without the price tag. Spark your wine knowledge at either Domaine Carneros or Ashes & Diamonds - both have a youthful vibe and approachable wine for the entry-level taster. Next, make your way to Gran Electrica for dinner and margaritas. Don’t skimp on the chips and guac, you’ll need the sustenance to keep the celebration going. After dinner, head to Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar at Archer Hotel. With an incredible view of the Napa skyline, fire pits, Jenga and cornhole, you’ll have plenty of Instagram worthy shots and memories to last until the big 22. If you’re in need of a hearty breakfast the morning after, make sure you order the breakfast sandwich or lemon ricotta pancakes from ABC Bakery.
It’s the ‘Dirty Thirty!’ Celebrating in the Napa Valley is always a treat, but your 30th birthday needs to be celebrated to the fullest. Book a few rooms or a suite at Andaz Napa with friends and family. Located in the heart of downtown Napa, you’ll be right in the middle of the action. Book a tasting at newly renovated Louis M. Martini Winery (the Martini Park tasting is unbeatable) or book a unique tuk-tuk tour with Laces & Limos. They can help you plan your own custom tour, or you can even book one based off of Amy Poehler’s ‘Wine Country’ movie, regardless, you’ll be riding into your thirties in style. For dinner, walk 20 feet from your hotel to Eiko’s to enjoy some incredible Japanese cuisine (plus, on weekends their patio turns into an epic dance spot). The next morning, a breakfast sandwich on one of Model Bakery’s famous English muffins is an absolute must.
Forty may be the new thirty, but you’ve definitely earned a little rest and relaxation for your 40th birthday celebration in Napa Valley. A stay at Hotel Yountville is complete with a spa and luxurious pool — you may never want to leave the property. If you do choose to venture out, opt for either a cooking class at Vista Collina Resort’s new Food and Wine Center or, if you’re more of an early bird, plan a hot air balloon ride (they usually take off right in Yountville). If time allows, a tasting on Alpha Omega Winery's stunning patio is guaranteed to enhance any celebration. For dinner, stroll a block down from your hotel to Bistro Jeanty and enjoy some classic French cuisine. The following day, head over to Boon Fly Cafe for their donuts or breakfast flatbread.
You’re 50 and fabulous! Celebrate your 50th birthday in Napa Valley in style with a vineyard view suite at Las Alcobas in St. Helena. The luxury property offers amenities galore, including a spa, rooms with soaking tubs and Acacia House restaurant with cuisine from Top Chef alum Chris Cosentino. For the birthday agenda, make your way to Nickel & Nickel Winery, offering single-vineyard wines that will make your heart sing (be sure to book a tasting ahead of time, they are by appointment only), or book a tour on the Wine Train for an unforgettable Napa Valley experience. Dinner at FARM at Carneros offers seasonal tasting menus, complete with wine pairings in a breathtaking setting. The next morning, stop by Brasswood Bakery for seasonal pastries and treats to help you rejuvenate after an epic celebration.
Like a fine Napa Valley wine, you only get better with age. For your 60th birthday treat yourself with a stay at Auberge du Soleil, embodying the essence of sophistication, just like you. Plan a tasting at Charles Krug Winery, the Napa Valley’s oldest wine estate and legendary in its own right, or book Round Pond’s garden-to-table brunch for a comprehensive tasting of their estate wines paired with a family-style brunch and a magnificent view of the Mayacamas mountain range. Dinner reservations at Solbar at Solage are an absolute must, not to mention their fromage blanc cheesecake that will make you wish every day was your birthday. Make your second day as a 60-year-old just as great as your first, with Norwegian eggs benedict from Archetype.
