The Great Wine Capitals Global Network recognizes Napa Valley as one of 11 Great Wine Capitals around the world (and the only one in North America). The organization recently celebrated Napa Valley hospitality businesses as leaders in the 2026 Best of Wine Tourism awards.

The annual Best of Wine Tourism Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in wine tourism throughout the greatest wine regions in the world. For Napa Valley, the awards program spotlights hospitality leaders for their commitment to excellence in delivering the highest quality experiences to visitors through seven categories.

Here are the 2026 winners from Napa Valley:

Accommodation

Napa Valley Regional Award Winner: The George

exterior of 2-story inn The George in Napa

The Accommodation category recognizes a lodging property that demonstrates a close connection to our wine region, driving tourism to the valley. A new generation luxury boutique inn with nine guest rooms situated in downtown Napa’s picturesque old town neighborhood, The George is nestled away but within walking distance to everything downtown Napa has to offer; from exclusive wine tasting rooms, restaurants, Uptown Theater, Napa Valley Opera House, Oxbow Market, and much more. The George is a historical residence that has been reimagined to capture a new balance of contemporary elegance, sophistication, and style, with a modern grandeur for the 21st century, drawing wine lovers who look to enjoy an intimate experience in Napa Valley.

Architecture & Landscapes

Napa Valley Regional Award Winner: Cuvaison Winery

Cuvaison tasting room with patio

This category recognizes a winery with significant architectural design elements or characteristics, whether historical or contemporary. Designed by renowned wine country architect Douglas Thornley, the Cuvaison Tasting Salon features a breathtaking 2,500-square-foot terrace named the Vineyard Patio, a floor-to-ceiling sliding glass wall separating the Vineyard Patio from the gorgeous interior Tasting Salon, and an elegant Winemaker’s Lounge with its own dedicated patio for private tastings. With the opening last year of two stunning open-air boathouse pavilions alongside the winery’s idyllic pond, and the recent unveiling of The VineYard, a  new family-friendly outdoor tasting area for relaxed, self-paced tastings, it just became even more stunning! Cuvaison built its stylish boathouse pavilions above the pond cantilevered out over the water.

Art & Culture

Napa Valley Regional Award Winner: Boisset Collection - Calistoga Depot & Boisset Collection Wineries

Calistoga Depot Distillery

The Arts & Culture regional award focuses on a winery that displays a commitment to combining arts, culture, and wine in a forward-looking way. The Boisset Collection (wineries and The Calistoga Depot) is a collection of experiences where arts, culture, and wine converge. Bossiet's wineries are iconic, and the collection's newest endeavor, the Calistoga Depot, offers locally sourced wines and craft beverages, live music and rotating cultural events that create a dynamic, immersive experience. Guests to the collection's properties can enjoy historic architecture, curated art, and environments that blend Napa Valley’s culinary, artistic, and musical offerings—making the Boisset collection's offerings destinations where culture and community intersect.

Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences

Napa Valley Regional Award Winner: Sterling Vineyards

Gondola Ride at Sterling Vineyards

This category recognizes a winery that consistently delivers innovative, educational, and exceptional leisure activities and experiences. Sterling is the only winery in the world that guests reach via an aerial gondola. This scenic ascent offers panoramic views of the Napa Valley and sets the tone for a memorable and elevated experience, both literally and figuratively. It transforms the journey into part of the destination, creating a sense of arrival that no other winery replicates.

Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices

Napa Valley Regional Award Winner: CHANDON

Chandon outdoor wine tasting setup

The Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices regional award highlights a winery that has implemented environmental practices and sustainable innovations and developments in the vineyards, winery, and visitor experience. Chandon exemplifies green architecture and smart design. The winery was originally built into the hillside to minimize impact, preserving native oaks and using materials like native stone and Douglas fir to blend with the environment. Its two-story design reduced the footprint, and recent renovations continued this legacy with natural materials and spaces that connect guests to the land. Chandon also uses agrotechnology to monitor vine and soil moisture, applying only the water lost through evapotranspiration. In 2023, all home gardens were replanted with drought-tolerant native grasses and succulents, greatly reducing irrigation needs and honoring local ecology.

Led by Executive Chef Magnus Young, the talented culinary team brings a farm-to-table philosophy to life, crafting seasonal menus with ingredients harvested from Clif Family's own 10-acre organic farm. Each wine experience at Clif Family is paired with a thoughtful food component, designed to showcase the natural connection between food and wine. Their award-winning food truck adds a unique dimension to Napa Valley’s culinary scene.
