Clif Family Winery, known for its organic and sustainable farming practices, was founded in 2004 by owners Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford – inspired by their mutual love for cycling adventures that inevitably end in good food and of course, good wine.

To share that tradition with visitors, Clif Family Winery has teamed up with Visit Napa Valley to launch new Tour de Chef cycling experiences in April 2021 with routes designed by local celebrity chefs – who also happen to be avid cyclists. The self-guided routes begin at Clif Family Winery and end back at their tasting room’s outdoor patio for a glass of vino and a specialty bruschetta featuring toppings chosen by the chefs of the cycling routes themselves.

Three journeys include Chef Philip Tessier of PRESS Napa Valley (resume includes the likes of French Laundry and Le Bernardin), whose journey takes cyclists on a scenic route including a quick break at Bouchon Bakery for a handmade pastry or quiche – and ending with Clif Family Cacao Solar Grown Honey spread, hazelnut and seasonal fruit bruschetta back at Clif.

Chef Chris Kollar of Kollar Chocolates over in Yountville designed his tour to challenge cyclists with some thigh-busting climbs along his favorite route followed by a hilly return back to Clif for formaggio and farm veggie bruschetta.

And last but not least, Executive Chef of Clif Family Winery, John McConnell’s favorite 22-mile loop includes sweeping views of both vineyards and mountains – with his favorite funghi bruschetta and a glass of Cab Sauv at the finish line.

Bikes are provided by Calistoga Bike Shop and available for 21 and older. The Tour de Chef self-guided experiences include bike rentals, and bruschetta and wine tasting. Routes range from beginner to intermediate. Experiences available Wednesday-Sunday.
