Visit Napa Valley and Peter Greenberg Worldwide present “Hidden Gems of Napa Valley,” airing on PBS this May and on popular streaming platforms Prime, YouTubeTV, and AppleTV July 1, 2025.
NAPA, Calif., June 2, 2025—Napa Valley may be best known as one of the great winemaking capitals of the world, but there’s a world beyond its vineyards. Beginning this May, broadcast TV and streaming audiences can uncover its hidden gems with Travel Editor of CBS News and TV host Peter Greenberg. “Hidden Gems of Napa Valley” airs on PBS, available on streaming platforms including YouTubeTV, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime starting July 1st.
Visit Napa Valley, the official destination marketing organization for Napa County, in production collaboration with Peter Greenberg Worldwide, set out to showcase heritage sites, artisans and the lesser-known histories of Napa Valley with its film production of a dedicated feature segment on Peter Greenberg’s nationally renowned, long-running eponymous hit TV Series, The Travel Detective, hosted by the CBS news correspondent and journalist.
In addition to this television opportunity, Visit Napa Valley worked with the Peter Greenberg production team on a 3-hour radio broadcast on Greenberg’s nationally syndicated radio show, Eye on Travel, featuring: Former Napa County Supervisor and Heritage Tourism advocate Diane Dillon; Founder of Brasswood Estate, Marcus Marquez; Winemaker for Lang & Reed, John Skupny; Author of The Wine Bible, Karen MacNeil; Proprietor of Tor Wines, Tor Kenward; Former Executive Director of the Napa County Historical Society, Sheli Smith; Cathiard Vineyard’s Daniel Cathiard; Napa Fire Chief, Zach Curren, and Mayor of Napa, Scott Sedgley.
“Hidden Gems of Napa Valley” showcases the lesser-known activities not found in most traditional guidebooks or websites. From regional cooking lessons with local chefs to adventurous sports to cultural experiences, Peter Greenberg uncovers those special yet accessible places that many visitors overlook. Hidden Gems inspires travelers to immerse themselves in the culture and embark on life-changing journeys.
The program will be available on PeterGreenberg.com, within the PBS television series, “The Travel Detective”, and digitally on YouTube TV, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime in July, featuring:
- Bale Grist Mill — Now protected as a State Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Bale Grist Mill is operated by two not-for-profit organizations: Napa County Regional Park & Open Space District, and the Napa Valley State Parks Association.
- Model Bakery (locations in Napa, St. Helena) — This acclaimed bakery prioritizes local grains in their freshly baked pastries, bites, and breads, including their famous handmade English muffins, at locations across Napa Valley.
- Vonsaal Design — Artist Richard Von Saal’s studio, VonSaal Design, tailors every project with a meticulous eye for rich storytelling through materials and tradition. Von Saal’s expertise in unique sculptural pieces can help you perfect an at-home entertaining experience.
- Seguin Moreau — At Seguin Moreau, wine barrels are an art form. Assembly starts with a pallet of wood, transformed into shape through carefully applied heat, and pressed and bound together without nails or glue.
- Calistoga Spa Hot Springs — Featuring 57 guestrooms and suites, massage services, alluring mineral pools, and acclaimed mud baths, Calistoga Hot Springs has been a mainstay of Napa Valley visitors for generations.
In addition to PBS, "Hidden Gems of Napa Valley" will stream on YouTube, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime for three years beginning in July and have an estimated 103,000,000 views.
“By leading with purpose and foresight, we’re ensuring Napa Valley remains a place of inspiration and beauty - not just for today, but for generations to come,” says Linsey Gallagher, President and CEO of Visit Napa Valley. “Our partnership with Peter Greenberg shines a light on Napa Valley’s monumental impact on cultural tourism, using platforms millions of viewers engage with daily.”
