Let’s face it, four days in the Napa Valley is going to be pleasant no matter what you do. But if you’d like to pack your long weekend with the finest accommodations, the best food and wine, and some premium live entertainment, then you should definitely check out Yountville Live!, happening March 19 to 22. This annual event draws visitors from across the entire country to sample some of the best and most deluxe pairings the valley has to offer. Here’s a brief sampling of activities:

The All-Access Welcome Reception kicks things off Thursday at Brix Restaurant & Gardens, pairing French-inspired California cuisine with some of the valley’s finest wine growers and producers. The experience will include an intimate, acoustic performance by platinum-selling recording artist Blue October.

The Eight @ Eight dinners will partner a multi-course meal at a top Yountville restaurant with a premier appellation winery – with an up-close performance by an emerging artist at the head of your table during the dinner. The pairings include:

  • Jillette Johnson at Bottega with Chiarello wines
  • Lee DeWyze – at Lucy Restaurant and Bar at Bardessono with Hestan Vineyards wines
  • Vicci Martinez at Hurley’s with Hill Family Estate wines
  • As well as dinners with performers Jon McLaughlin, Eoin Harrington, and Scott Innes.

An Afternoon of Music, Food, and Wine on Friday will be hosted at intimate venues in downtown Yountville featuring acoustic performances by emerging artists and tastings from local chefs, winemakers, and brew masters. Featured performers include Alpha Rev at the Vintage Barrel Room, Scars on 45 at Jessup Cellars, and Noah Gunderson at the Generations Room.

The After-Hours VIP Party will give you a chance to meet and mingle with the weekend’s performing artists, chefs, and winemakers. The swanky event will feature late-night bites, craft cocktails, a DJ, and a live performance by an artist (to be announced).

At the Taste of Yountville event on Saturday you can sample the foods and wines that make this town one of the world’s culinary capitals. You‘ll get a passport for complimentary tastings at Yountville’s restaurants and tasting rooms, as well as access to a Grand Tasting Pavilion featuring local wineries and live musical performances.

Saturday night is the main event with Main Stage Performances at the excellent local Lincoln Theater. Headliners include O|A|R and Aimee Mann.

No sleeping in for you! Sunday’s Gospel Brunch will feature an elegant al fresco buffet, tastings of wine and sparkling wine, and a performance by female duo Larkin Poe (descendants of Edgar Allen Poe!) at Yountville Park.

Finally, it’s back to the Lincoln Theater for more Main Stage Performances with headliners Colbie Caillat and Matt Nathanson.

If that isn’t enough for you, Yountville is also home to great shopping, spas, a good museum, cycling, and a nine-hole public golf course. You’ve got your work cut out for you.
