Vista Collina: A New Way to Experience Napa Valley
July 12, 2018
Just when you thought you’d experienced every angle that the Napa Valley has to offer, here comes another one. Vista Collina, the newest property in the Meritage Collection, gives fresh meaning to the familiar phrase “It takes a village.”
The luxury property, located in south Napa and opening in July 2018, is designed around an epicurean village that includes nine tasting rooms featuring the best local boutique wineries and microbrews, including Trinitas Cellars, Foley Food & Wine Society, Jayson by Pahlmeyer, and Napa Smith Brewery. The Fivetown Grocery will showcase tastes of the valley’s five towns, including house-made pastas and sauces, smoked barbeque, and freshly baked bread, all made in small batches by executive chef Vincent Lesage. And the Food & Wine Center will feature an exhibition kitchen where onsite cooking classes will be taught by rotating guest chefs and bakers as well as the resort’s culinary team.
For a more private experience, the resort has partnered with the Napa-based culinary innovation company, Hestan Cue. The culinary team can deliver farm-fresh ingredients to the rooms of those guests staying in kitchen suites, where they can prepare their own meals using a video-guided cooking system. Room service of locally sourced fare is available too, of course.
The resort is set on 11 acres amid rolling hills just minutes from downtown Napa and features a Tuscan-style décor, a luxurious pool area with 10 cabanas, and an expansive community lawn for picnics and private concerts. Its 145 rooms include 39 suites with fully equipped kitchens. All rooms have been decorated by Los Angeles-based Kay Lang Associates and feature a Napa-inspired theme in a palette of merlot, green, and gold. Frette linens, free-standing soaking tubs, and comfy upholstered lounge chairs adorn the rooms, which are accented by art of locally inspired landscapes. In addition, guests can book spa treatments at Vista Collina’s sister property, the Meritage Resort’s Spa Terra, located in a 22,000-square-foot underground cave.
It’s a delicious new way to savor the many flavors of Napa Valley, without the need to even get in your car.
