People's Choice: The Foodie Awards of Napa Valley
November 1, 2019
With amazing farm-to-table cuisine of all kinds- from Mexican food trucks to Michelin-starred restaurants- the 35-mile stretch that is Napa Valley is by all accounts a must-eat destination. But, frankly, we’re a little biased, so we wanted to know, what are YOUR favorite places to get your grub on in the Napa Valley?
We took the question to our nearly 300,000 social media fans to discover who really has the very best eats in Napa Valley. We asked. You answered. And without further adieu (drum roll, please)... here are the big winners of our Napa Valley Foodie Wars!
The People’s Foodie Award for Best Pizza goes to: Ciccio and Pizzeria Tra Vigne
Ciccio has clearly taken a ‘pizza’ people’s hearts and was a clear stand-out in our pizza showdown. As beautiful as they are delicious, Ciccio’s wood-fired and seasonal pizzas are beloved throughout the valley. Their menu does change frequently so you won’t find it regularly posted but trust us, it’s the best kind of surprise.
Pizzeria Tra Vigne’s slogan is ‘where the in-the-know locals go'- well, these locals have shared their knowledge and so are we. While this St. Helena gem is best known for their mozzarella “al minuto,” the sourdough crust pizzas are a close second. May we recommend ‘La Bamba?’
The People’s Foodie Award for Best Tacos goes to: Gran Electrica and Tacos Chavez
Gran Electrica may still be the relatively new kid on the block, but they sure have made a name for themselves. Plus, not only are the tacos amazing, their margaritas are off the charts. It’s no surprise there’s a line of dedicated fans waiting for them to open for happy hour every day, anxious to get a coveted spot at the bar.
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican street tacos, look no further than Tacos Chavez. Although they serve only one type of taco (beef), your taste buds will thank you. Plus, you don’t need to go through the stress of making a decision on which taco fits your fancy. You can find the five-star rated food truck on Coombs St. in the evenings.
The People’s Foodie Award for Best Burger goes to: Squeeze Inn and Gott's Roadside
Desperately craving a cheeseburger with a cheese skirt? If you haven't tried the burger that has maintained a cult-like Northern California following for over 30 years, we insist you give it a go. A stop at Squeeze Inn Hamburgers may not look like much from the outside, but when this cheeseburger is put in front of you, you’ll never look at another burger the same way again.
Gott’s Roadside is a Napa Valley staple. On most days, you can find a line out the door for lunch and dinner. Whether you’re looking for a classic cheeseburger or something a little out of the ordinary but equally delicious — think kimchi burger, green chile cheeseburger, or the infamous Impossible burger — this is the place to be.
The People’s Foodie Award for Best Breakfast goes to: Boon Fly Cafe and Southside Cafe
Breakfast donuts- need we say more? Boon Fly Cafe is housed in a charming red barn-like building in Napa Valley’s Carneros region, and let’s just say they could’ve made the place slightly larger to make more room for us and our appetites. Serving a daily brunch, including a breakfast flatbread, green eggs and ham, and their signature Boon Fly donuts, we weren’t surprised at all to see this one win a foodie showdown.
Southside Cafe made its Napa Valley debut in 2016 but quickly took the valley by storm, now with three locations in Carneros, South Napa, and Yountville. Whether you’re fiending for grilled strawberry toast, chilaquiles, or cornmeal pancakes, you’ll surely become as addicted as the locals after just one bite.
The People’s Foodie Award for Best Dessert goes to: R+D Kitchen and Rutherford Grill
The people have spoken and R+D Kitchen’s classic carrot cake has taken home the prize for best dessert. We can’t really blame you, our mouths water when a giant slice of this cake is presented in front of us too.
Rutherford Grill is a delicious pick for any meal of the day, but their infamous Oreo cookie ice cream sandwich is definitely worth writing home about. Or posting on Instagram so all your friends can be jealous. Whichever.
If these options aren’t enough, or you need even more of a reason to make a trip to the foodie wonderland that is Napa Valley, explore the many other flavors of the valley here.
