New Luxury Hotel Las Alcobas Comes to St. Helena
March 30, 2017
It’s been long overdue: A new deluxe hotel in downtown St. Helena will open its doors to the public on March 30. The five-star Las Alcobas property has been built on the site of the historic Acacia House, built in 1907 as a private house and long known as the St. Gothard Inn and later as the Grandview Hotel. Now, Las Alcobas (which means “the alcoves” in Spanish) sits just above Main Street to the north of town. It offers 68 rooms and suites, many of them with beautiful outdoor terraces and views of vineyards or of Beringer Vineyards next door. Within walking distance is the downtown block of St. Helena, and it’s a short drive to such wineries as Charles Krug Winery, HALL Wines, Corison Winery, Castello di Amorosa, and many more.
Inside, guestrooms designed by Yabu Pushelberg feature elegant modern décor in beiges, whites, and grays, and simple contemporary lines. They’re appointed with oversize bathrooms, custom-designed furniture, and Rivolta Carmignani Italian linens. Accommodations also include an a la carte breakfast.
Acacia House, the on-site restaurant, will feature American cuisine and is headed by chef Chris Cosentino, who rose to fame as a winner of Top Chef Masters as well as competing in The Next Iron Chef and Iron Chef America. He trained at Johnson and Wales and has headed such San Francisco restaurants as Cockscomb and Incanto.
The Atrio Spa will offer what it calls “ancient massage over two-thousand years old” and other treatments. The fitness center includes a state-of-the-art Life Fitness gym, plus yoga and a meditation studio. The hotel’s on-site concierge will be a member of Les Clef D’Or USA and will be able to arrange any dining, tasting, and transportation requests of Las Alcobas guests.
Room rates range between $425 and $3,025 a night, depending on room type and season. Reservations can be made online for April 3 and beyond.
This is bound to be a popular new addition to the Napa Valley’s hotel scene and rooms are booking up quickly, so check it out soon!
