Napa Valley Gift-Shopping 101
August 22, 2017
You’ve finally arrived in the Napa Valley for the weekend or vacation you’ve been planning for ages – you’re not actually thinking about going home empty-handed, are you? Many wineries will ship bottles or cases home for you. But if you’re looking for something a little more unusual, here are a few suggestions. These shops are full of so many creative, hand-crafted gift items, you won’t be blamed if you decide to pick up a few things for yourself as well.
Napa General Store, Napa. This spot is filled with a wide variety of hand-made, clever household items. Check out the array of gourmet sea salts, the cork and metal jewelry, and the gift pack of dinner essentials.
Mercantile at the Napa Valley Welcome Center, Napa. The perfect place to stock up on souvenirs like aprons, table linens, cookbooks, and locally produced spices and rubs. Other artisanal items include Olive & Poppy jewelry, tote bags, and handmade note cards.
V Marketplace, Yountville. Located in a brick winery building dating from 1870, this warren of shops sells everything from home accessories and apparel to fine art, wine, and chocolate. Check out Kollar Chocolates for chocolate sushi; The Scents of Napa Valley for lotions, bath products, candles, and bathrobes from Europe; or Lemondrops for children’s clothing, accessories, and toys.
Spice Islands Marketplace at the Culinary Institute of America, St. Helena. Any foodie will happily get lost here amid the cooking supplies and utensils and more than 1,700 cookbook titles, as well as hard-to-find spices and local specialties.
Acres, St. Helena. A tiny but well-stocked home-and-garden shop offering beautiful tools, home accessories, jewelry, and gift items.
Napa Valley Vintage Home, St. Helena. Another shop for home décor and entertaining, filled with gorgeous merchandise from the south of France and elsewhere.
Mirabella, Cricket, and Reeds, St. Helena. Three of our favorite women’s clothing shops, all owned by the same local couple. Great for wine-country basics and last-minute dressy occasions with high-end American and European labels.
Carmel Gallery, Calistoga. A wide selection of fine-art nature photographs by Olof and Elizabeth Carmel.
Blackbird, Calistoga. A great selection of indoor and outdoor gifts, from gardening tools to bath products.
