During your visit to the Napa Valley, you’ll no doubt taste some remarkable wines and eat some outrageously good food – not for nothing is the area known as a culinary destination. Now there’s a way for you to take some of those good tastes with you and recreate them yourself at home, or give someone a perfect souvenir of your wine country vacation. In addition to a wide range of locally produced merchandise and gift items, the Napa Valley Welcome Center sells an assortment of great cookbooks. Here’s a sampling.
Flavors of Summer by Ryland Peters – 150 flavorful recipes from Snacks and Plates to Share to Desserts and Drinks. This volume is filled with Mediterranean-style small dishes, barbecue mains and sides, and picnics and al fresco dining. This is exactly how we love to eat and entertain in the Napa Valley.
Wine Bites: Simple Morsels that Pair Perfectly with Wine by Barbara Scott-Goodman – It doesn’t get more “wine country” than this cookbook for those who love to entertain. More than 60 recipes for easy appetizers and small bites, with recommendations for the best wines to pair them with. Whether it’s a wonderful cheese plate, a gorgeous antipasti platter, or making impressive hors-d'oeuvres from pantry staples, this is a great go-to for the party-giver.
Ultimate Appetizer Ideabook by Kiera Stipovich and Cole Stipovich – This is another great resource for frequent entertainers. Filled with 225 recipes for updated classics, modern-day favorites, and innovative recipes for hosts of all skill levels. They include great dips, spreads, and one-bite hors-d'oeuvres to heartier fare as well as a section on little sweets perfect for an all-dessert affair.
Les Fruits: Savory and Sweet Recipes from the Market Table by Pascale Beale and Karen Steinwachs – This cookbook comprises nearly 100 recipes that feature vibrant colors, fresh ingredients, and both savory and sweet flavors showcasing the versatility of fruit as the main event.
