The CIA at Copia announces their first Food is Life Festival, April 22-26, 2020. This five-day foodie event celebrates all things food, wine, and sustainability with cooking demonstrations and wine tastings, live talks, film screenings, music, and more. Festivities kick off on the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day and bring together leading chefs and other voices in food and sustainability for a celebration of forward progress, hands-on experiences and learning around how food choices can help ensure a healthy mind, body, and planet.

Guests at Sky & Vine, Archer Hotel’s rooftop bar in downtown Napa, with 360-degree Napa Valley vistas, may now enjoy the outdoors in the cooler months. Newly added in January 2020 are more than a dozen individually-controlled heaters under the trellis. In addition to the heaters, a new winter-themed cocktail menu has been released with creations including The Handwarmer, made with Kahlua, Bailey’s, Licor 43, Ancho Leon, and hot cocoa.

Bardessono in Yountville welcomes guests to experience their new luxury villas, The Maple Grove Villas. The three villas, named Flint, Jaspe and Quartole, may be enjoyed individually or as one three-bedroom retreat. Each villa includes a living room; king bedroom; spa bathrooms; and courtyard, while the center villa offers a dining room for entertaining, with enhanced amenities and a personalized docent service to ensure a customized stay. Meadowood Napa Valley in St. Helena has completed a full renovation of its pools and fitness environs, including three updated swimming pools; a new Pool Terrace bar and restaurant for guests 21 and older, as well as an updated Fitness Center. The new spaces opened to Meadowood guests in October 2019.

In March 2020, Solage in Calistoga is slated to unveil renovated guest rooms featuring new hardwood flooring, updated furniture and refreshed décor. By April 2020, the Solbar patio will be extended to make room for a new pool deck with contemporary lounge seating, cabanas, and a children’s pool. By June 2020, Solage will add a new meeting room and wedding gazebo, followed by a new restaurant in October 2020. Please note that all dates are subject to change.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is scheduled to open in fall 2020. The resort represents Napa Valley’s first and only resort set within a working winery, offering 85 spacious guestrooms and suites as well as 20 residences. Resort guests will be treated to a hospitality experience centered on food, wine and spirits, plus wellness-inspired amenities. Tucked into the base of Mount Saint Helena in Calistoga and surrounded by hundreds of acres of vineyards, the resort will include the Gran Roca Spa; two outdoor swimming pools nestled amid the vineyard; an on-site winery by award-winning winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown; a Kids for All Seasons program; multiple meeting and events spaces; and unique dining experiences including TRUSS Restaurant and Bar, led by Chef Erik Anderson.

Napa Valley Museum announces their new exhibit, “Lucy Liu: One of These Things Is Not Like The Others,” on display Feb. 1 through April 26, 2020. Award-winning actress Lucy Liu is also an established artist with a recent exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore. The exhibit will be the first USA museum exhibit of her work, featuring wood sculptures and oversized paintings inspired by Shunga. Liu will also be the keynote speaker at the Napa Valley Museum’s Phenomenal Women Fundraising Luncheon on Feb. 25, 2020.
Napa Valley Museum will also feature two other exhibitions, “The Yates Collection,” Feb. 1 – March 22, 2020, showcasing the works collected by the Yates Foundation that include works by Matisse, Pissarro, Picasso and Chagall; and their permanent history exhibition, “Land and People of the Napa Valley,” sharing the colorful history of the Napa Valley, including the new Veterans Home history display.

Paper Napan Walkabouts now offers a Downtown Napa Walkabout Tour every Wednesday and Friday to celebrate the history of Napa while walking through the city’s historic downtown. The three-hour tour provides an overview of local history and a taste of the Napa lifestyle. Throughout 2020, Acumen is partnering with the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to host four seasonally inspired, wine-themed cooking classes in the Hestan Kitchens of CIA at Copia. Led by the CIA’s renowned chef instructors, each class is followed by a family-style dinner featuring each guest’s culinary creations and a selection of Acumen wines. The first class of the season will take place during Valentine’s Day Weekend, Feb. 15, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m., and will feature Acumen’s 2015 PEAK Edcora Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, which recently earned a perfect 100-point score.

Cuvaison Estate Wines announces its partnership with Carneros Resort and Spa, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy in-suite tasting experiences led by Cuvaison’s winemaker, Steve Rogstad. Called “Wine-In with Carneros,” the new from the new program features two intimate in-suite tasting options, The Wine Journey and Farm to Vine. Hyde Estate Winery offers a new Pinot Noir Exploration, allowing guests to experience the vines and terroir that create their flagship wine, the Larry Hyde Pinot Noir. The experience takes guests through the winemaking process, beginning in the vineyards with an overview of terroir, followed by a tour of the production facility and the aging process, and concludes in the private VIP room with a flight of Pinot Noir vintages.

Through March 31, 2020, Domaine Chandon offers two new tasting experiences, a Mixology 101 Class and a Fireside Tasting experience. The interactive mixology class educates guests on the history of sparkling wines and cocktails; shares Chandon recipes; and tests mixology skills by having participants master three cocktail creations. The Fireside Tasting experience provides guests the opportunity to enjoy Chandon wines paired with seasonal foods around the outdoor fireplace. Elizabeth Spencer Winery offers three new tasting experiences: the Napa Valley Cabernet tasting, a communal cabernet and cheese pairing hosted in the garden cottage; the Library Wine tasting, where guests can enjoy various vintages paired with cheeses; and the Private Cabana tasting for groups of four or more on the Rutherford Green. HALL Rutherford offers two new tasting experiences, Appellation Exploration and The Ultimate Cabernet Experience. The Appellation Exploration is HALL’s most elevated offering, and the only opportunity to taste their Platinum Collection wines. The experience includes a barrel sample of Kathryn Hall Cabernet and a private seated tasting in the Chandelier Cave room. In February 2020, The CIA at Copia in Napa will unveil an enhanced Le Petit Chef (™) 3D Dining experience and new menu. Guests are invited to discover the sights, sounds, scents, and tastes inspired by Marco Polo’s legendary travels along the Silk Road during this culinary expedition. The evening includes a spice trail-inspired six-course dinner prepared by a team of CIA chefs. Throughout the meal, 3D animation projects onto the guest’s plates as a playful story unfolds with the world’s smallest chef—Le Petit Chef.

Chef Michael Chiarello announces the opening of his new restaurant, Coqueta, in Yountville. Coqueta, meaning “flirt” or “infatuation” in Spanish, represents Chiarello’s exploration and interpretation of Spanish Cuisine, wine and inspired cocktails, while highlighting the bounty of Northern California.
