Food & Wine’s “Best New Chefs” three-day event includes nightly winemaker dinners, exclusive winery access, a curated lunch and an interactive cooking demonstration taught by Food & Wine’s Best New Chef alumni. Napa Lighted Art Festival returns Jan. 11-19, 2020. Free to the public, this nine-day festival features iconic architecture becoming the painting in this unique lighted art walk. Original artwork, created by local and international artists, will be installed at approximately 16 locations in Downtown Napa, the Oxbow District and within the City of Napa. Artwork displayed at this year’s Napa Lighted Art Festival will include light art, video art, 3D video mapping projections, lighted sculptures and projects that use technology or interactivity. The festival program will include Artist Experiences, a series of gatherings to meet the artists; Culinary Experiences, available at the CIA at Copia; and six different historical tours of the seven historic buildings featured in the festival.

Acumen Tasting Room unveils its “First Flight” art exhibit featuring award-winning global artist Chris Cammarata. Guests are invited to taste through a selection of Acumen wines paired with artisan cheeses. Calistoga Ranch offers a new sensory “Cheers & Namaste” experience led by yoga, wine and wellness experts Ulrika Engman and Deanna Heon. Instructors lead guests through a series of poses, with brief breaks to enjoy sips of Napa Valley wine. This experience, which encourages guests to unwind while heightening their connection to each wine, is offered through the end of 2019.

Ashes & Diamonds offers a new sensory A&D Wines & Food experience during Cabernet Season November 2019 through April 2020, to showcase their new kitchen. This one hour, to 90-minute tasting includes a portfolio tasting of five current-release wines, paired with a five-course selection of seasonal wood-fired dishes prepared in-house by resident chefs.

Bouchaine Vineyards’ new 5,000 square foot Visitor Center was completed in October 2019. The semi-circle design maximizes views of the vineyards and surrounding hills, the San Francisco Bay and the winery’s 2,100 square foot terrace. Cut from one tree, the tasting room bar is made from reclaimed solid cypress slabs and the Copeland Room features a massive see-through fireplace built with stone from a local Napa Valley quarry. The room provides seating for up to 80 guests, easily accommodating large groups or intimate gatherings. The winery also features a 750 square foot contemporary open-design professional kitchen.

The Wine Foundry/Anarchist Wine Co. offers guest the chance to explore each step of the production process with their new two-hour Crush Camp experience. Downtown Napa welcomes its newest tasting room, WALT Napa Oxbow, which opened in June 2019 across from the Oxbow Public Market. WALT’s wines span California’s west coast and visitors may experience “1,000 Miles of Pinot,” a tasting of current releases from vineyards along the coast, and new experiences, including the “Root 101” where guests deconstruct dishes and delve into how each element interacts with WALT’s Pinot Noir and the Wine & Chocolate Pairing where guests taste wines from six appellations alongside Chris Kollar chocolates. Beaulieu Vineyards announces its new 80th Anniversary Georges de Latour Experience that thoughtfully unfolds the story of Napa Valley trailblazer Georges de Latour and his namesake wine from historical, present-day and future viewpoints. Cakebread Cellars' new visitor center opens on Oct. 23, 2019. The visitor center, which has been under construction for more than two years, will feature a new courtyard and nine private tasting rooms. Clif Family offers a new seasonal wine and food tasting experience to highlight the fall and winter fruits and vegetables grown in their organic Napa Valley farm. Hal Yamashita Napa has pre-opened with a limited course menu, prior to its official opening in November 2019. Located on Main Street in downtown Napa, the new Japanese restaurant features creations from Master Chef Hal, a member of Iron Chef All Stars in Japan. After traveling around the world, Chef Hal is known as a Maestro of contemporary Japanese cuisine “Shin-Washoku.” His limited pre-opening menu offers either an Akamatsu course with seven dishes or a Goyomatsu course with nine dishes. La Cheve Bakery and Brews will open in Napa’s oldest building, the Old Adobe in late 2019. Napa native Cinthya Cisneros and her family plan to focus on Mexican-style breads, traditional pastries and breakfast bites. The café will also offer local beers, as well as the Cisneros family’s own beer creations.


Renowned BBQ Chef and Pit Master Adam Perry Lang opened Perry Lang’s in the historic Groezinger Estate House at The Estate Yountville in mid-October 2019. Inducted in the Barbecue Hall of Fame in 2013, Lang is regarded as one of the most important chefs in the U.S., having gained experience at Le Cirque and Daniel in New York before opening the heralded Adam Perry Lang in Los Angeles in 2018.

St. Helena

Gary’s Wine & Marketplace opened in the former Dean & DeLuca space in St. Helena in October 2019. The New Jersey-based alcohol beverage and gourmet food retailer features more than 600 wine labels, focusing primarily on Napa Valley wines; 250 spirits and beer products; and a variety of more than 200 cheeses. Station Convenience Store, restaurateur Joel Gott’s newest venture, opened in St. Helena on the corner of Main and Spring streets in September 2019.
